Biography
Saint Maria Chaira, known as a quite, dauntless, astute, upbeat, vigorous and rash young lady. Her folks urged her to an increasingly dynamic public activity with the expectation that she would wed, yet she declined, working at home, and living a private pledge of modesty. At 18 she requested that authorization enter religious life, however, her folks denied it. With her sibling’s assistance, she joined the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary on 24 January 1892, taking the name Chiara (Clare). Evangelist to China. Her brief profession finished during a crackdown on remote ministers. One of the Martyrs of Shanxi and the Martyrs of China.
