Saint Medvinus was according to ancient tradition one of the first religious messengers in England. King Lucius sent him therefore, after his conversion, together with Elvanus by 179 to Rome to Bishop Eleutherus to send with the request missionaries to England what the Roman bishop sent back the two together with Fugatius and Donatianus.
