Saint Agathopodes of Antioch
St. Agathopodes, originally from Antioch in Syria, was a deacon who accompanied St. Ignatius on his journey to Rome, Italy.
Following Ignatius’ martyrdom, Agathopodes took the saint’s remains back to Antioch and composed a written account of him. Agathopodes himself died in the year 150 AD.
Saint Stefano of Antioch
St. Stefano of Antioch, who was also known as Stephen, served as a bishop. During the Council of Chalcedon, he was mistreated by protesters who held heretical beliefs.
Tragically, he met his end as a martyr when he drowned in the Orontes River in Antioch, Syria.

St. Philo, who hailed from Antioch, Syria, was a deacon. He accompanied St. Ignatius to Rome, Italy, and after the saint’s martyrdom, he returned to Antioch with his relics and authored a written account about him. St. Philo himself passed away in 150 AD.
Saint Heribaldus of Auxerre
HĂ©ribald, or St. Heribaldus, was a Benedictine monk who served as an abbot at St. Germanus in Auxerre, France.
In addition to his role as an abbot, he was also appointed as a bishop of Auxerre. St. Heribaldus died in the year 857 AD.
Saint Macaille
St. Macaille was a disciple of St. Mel of Ardagh and served as a bishop of Croghan in Offaly, Ireland.
He played a significant role in St. Brigid of Ireland’s life by co-presiding over the ceremony where she took her vows. St. Macaille died in 489 AD.
Saint Macedonius
St. Macedonius served as a patriarch in Constantinople. He was banished by Arians for upholding the resolutions of the Council of Chalcedon. He died from natural causes in the year 516 AD.
Saint Clarentius of Vienne
St. Clarentius, who was also referred to as Clarence or Clarenzio, served as a bishop in Vienne, France. He died in the year 620 AD.

Martyrs of Yeoju
As one of the Martyrs of Korea, the Martyrs of Yeoju are also commemorated on September 20th. These three Christian laymen were martyred together in the apostolic vicariate of Korea and died on April 25th, 1801 in Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. They were beatified by Pope Francis on August 15th, 2014.
