Blessed Alda of Siena, who was also referred to as Aldobrandesca, Aude, Blanca, or Bruna, was born in 1249 in Siena, Italy.
She was married and later widowed, after which she became a laywoman. She belonged to the Holy Humility of Mary and focused on personal penance, charity towards the poor, and received visions.
She was known for her religious ecstasies and highly respected in her hometown of Siena. She died in 1309.
