St Philoterus was a nobleman of Nicomedia who was born in the 3rd century AD in Nicomedia (modern-day Turkey). He was killed and died as a martyr in 303 AD in Nicomedia during the era of Christian persecutions in the reign of Roman Emperor Diocletian. We celebrate his feast day on May 19 every year in the Catholic Church.
