St Quiteria, also known as Kitheriammal, Quiteira, or Quitterie was a nun greatly honoured in France and Spain who died as a martyr. We celebrate his feast day on May 22 every year in the Catholic Church.
Saint Quiteria was the nine daughters of a Roman governor in Braga and his wife Calsia. Quiteria first lived in the mountains, then toured a large part of Hispania and even reached the south of Gaul.
She later became a nun and was killed not only for her belief but also because she was a woman.
