Saint’s Biography
Saint Rafael Arnáiz Barón was a skilled young man from Burgos, Spain. He studied architecture in Madrid, Spain. However, he felt the call for religious life, and on April 15, 1934, Rafael an oblate friar of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance.
Rafael was diagnosed with acute diabetes, a condition that forced him to leave the monastery three times, but each time, as soon as he survived enough, he returned to monastic life.
Death
He died on April 26, 1938 in Dueñas, Palencia, Spain.
