Blessed Conrad of Saxony born Saxony in modern Germany was a Franciscan friar and became a missionary preacher in Ircania, an area near the Caspian Sea, a region of primarily of Muslims and Eastern Orthodox Christians.

One day as he was preparing to preach the faith in public, he was set on and murdered by a mob. He died a martyr after being strangled to death in 1288 in the Ircania region.
