Blessed’s Biography
Bl Bernard of Verdun was born in the 14th century in the French nobility of France. He gave up secular life to join the Mercedarians and ransom Christians enslaved by Muslims.
In 1408 Bernard traveled to Tunis in North Africa, freed 300 slaves and was killed by Muslims. He was beaten to death in 1408 in Tunis, Tunisia.
