Blessed’s Biography
Bl Diego of Narbonne joined the Mercedarians at a young age. As a miracle worker, he attracted so much attention that for a while he led a monastic life in the monastery of El Puig in Valencia, Spain. In North Africa, he freed 108 Christians from Muslim slavery, but was imprisoned, tied up and repeatedly flogged for refusing to renounce Christianity. He was physically injured, was released, returned to the monastery of El Puig and spent his remaining years as a choral monk.
