Blessed’s Biography
Bl Giles of Santarem was the Son of a governor of Coimbra, Portugal, and council member of King Sancho I. Although his family encouraged him to enter the priesthood, Gil was not interested in his royal connections.
He studied medicine and necromancy. Gil later studied theology in Paris, France and joined the Dominicans in Palencia, Spain. Dominican provincial for Spain. He died on May 14 1265 in Santarem, Portugal of natural causes.
