Blessed’s Biography
Blessed James was born in Italy. He was the son of a knight in Volterra. James was parish priest at the abbey church. Bl. James of Certaldo was attached to the monastery for 40 of his 60 years of life. Twice he was offered the abbot office, but he declined. Bl. James of Certaldo example was so strong that both his father and his brother entered the monastery as lay-brothers.
