Blessed Juan of Granada Life History
Bl Juan of Granada was the grandson of King Ismael of Granada and son of Ozmin Aben Adriz who were both converts from Islam. Juan studied in Salamanca, Spain then joined the Mercedarians in Valladolid, Spain.
Thereafter, for 13 years, he became the commander of the convent of Córdoba, Spain. In 1407 he became the Mercedarians provincial of Castile, Spain
In 1415 and 1427, Juan made several trips to North Africa to ransom Christians who had been enslaved by Muslims. On his last trip in 1428, he was captured, imprisoned, tortured, and executed in Granada, Spain by the Moors for refusing to deny Christianity
