Biography

Blessed Marie-Claude-Cyprienne Brard, Carmelite nun, purported in 1757. One of the Carmelite Martyrs of Compiegne, executed in the counter Christian mistreatments of the French Revolution. Guillotined on July 17, 1794, at the Place du Trône Renversé (present day Place de la Nation) in Paris, France. Before their execution they bowed and recited the “Veni Creator”, as at a calling, after which they all reestablished so anyone might hear their baptismal and religious promises. Among eleven Discalced Carmelite nuns, three lay sisters and two laywomen workers who were martyred together in the French Revolution. They were the most punctual saints of the French Revolution that have been perceived.
