Biography
Blessed Matthaeus Gim Hyeon-u was a layman during the apostolic vicariate of Korea. He was the brother to blessed Barnabas Kim Iu. A well-known supporter of Father James Zhou Wen-mo. Among eight other Christians killed in the Persecutions of Korea. Born in South Korea in 1775 AD. He was a layman who also worked in South Korea. Died on July 2, 1801, at the Small West Gate, Seoul, South Korea. Beatified by Pope Francis on August 15, 2014.
