Biography
Blessed Nicola Paglia was born of the Italian nobility and received a vision of an angel who warned him not to meat as he would join a religious order that advocated for abstinence.
He joined the University in Bologna, Italy where he heard the preaching of Saint Dominic de Guzman and soon after joined the Dominicans adopting the traits of Saint Dominic himself.
Later, he was ordained a priest and was noted as a successful preacher. He founded monasteries in Trani and Perugia and initiated bible study and the compilation of a Bible concordance.
He was then commissioned to preach against Saracens by Pope Gregory IX. Nicola was known to be a miracle worker and spent his final years as a pious monk in the Dominican monastery in Perugia.
