Blessed Joseph Allamano

Blessed Joseph Allamano, also known as Giuseppe Allamano, was a priest born on January 21 1851 at Castelnuova, Asti, Italy. He was the fourth of five children, and the nephew of St John Cafasso.

Joseph’s father died he was three years old. He studied at the Salesian Oratory in Valdocco, Italy where St John Bosco was one of Giuseppe’s spiritual directors.

He entered the diocesan seminary of Turin, Italy in November 1866 and on September 20 1873 he was ordained on September 20 1873.

Thereafter, he became a spiritual director of the Turin seminary. On October 2 1880, he was appointed as the rector of the Consolata Shrine where he remodeled the shrine, and made it a source for spiritual renewal throughout the diocese.

On January 29 1901, he founded the Consolata Missionary Priests and Brothers and the first missionaries reached Kenya in 1902.

On January 29 1910, he founded the Consolata Missionary Sisters for women with a missionary vocation. He died on February 16 1926 at Turin, Italy and beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 7 1990.

Saint Tetradius of Bourges

St Tetradius of Bourges was also known as Tetradio, or Tétrade.

He was the Bishop of Bourges, France in the late 5th and early 6th centuries. He was part of the Council of Agde in 506 AD and also part of the Council of Orléans in 511 AD. He died in 512 AD.

Blessed Filippa Mareri

Blessed Filippa Mareri was also known as Philippa Mareria. She was born around 1195 at Mareri, Rieti, Italy.

After she met St Francis of Assisi in her parents’ home, she became a hermit on a mountain above Mareri, Italy.

She became a Poor Clare nun, founded a Franciscan convent in Rieti, Italy with the help of Blessed Roger of Todi and became its Abbess.

She died February 16 1236 in Borgo San Pietro, Rieti, Italy. She was beatified on April 30 1806 by Pope Pius VII through cultus confirmation and decree of her heroic virtues.

Saint Simeon of Metz

St. Simeon of Metz has an additional Memorial on 25th October (translation of relics). He was a fourth-century bishop of Metz, France.

He was buried in the church San Clément aux Arènes and his relics were transferred to the Benedictine of St. Peter in Senones 770 AD.

Saint Pamphilus of Cilicia

St. Pamphilus of Cilicia was also known as Pamphilus of Caesarea. He was a bishop. In the mines of Cilicia, he was imprisoned and sentenced for two years. He died as a martyr in 309 AD in Cilicia, Asia Minor (in modern Turkey).

Saint Faustinus of Brescia

St. Faustinus of Brescia was a bishop of Brescia, Italy in 360 AD. Legend says that he was a relative of St. Faustinus and St. Jovita, and we know that he researched and wrote their Acts. He died in 381 AD.

Saint John III of Constantinople

St. John III of Constantinople was a patriarch of Constantinople in 565 AD. He established regulations that became the code of laws known as the “Nomocanon”. He died in 577 AD.

Blessed Archinrico of Montmajour

Blessed Archinrico of Montmajour was a monk and an abbot in the late 10th and early 11th centuries. He is mentioned in some documents, but little about the man is known.

Saint Aganus of Airola

St. Aganus of Airola was born in 1050. He was a Benedictine monk and an abbot of St. Gabriel’s monastery at Airola, Campania, Italy. In 1100 he died of natural causes.

Saint Onesimus of Ephesus

St. Onesimus of Ephesus was a priest and a bishop of Ephesus. He supported St. Ignatius of Antioch.

Saint Juliana of Campania

St. Juliana of Campania was a martyr.

Martyrs of Cilicia

The martyrs of Cilicia were a group of Christians who ministered to other Christians who were condemned to work the mines of Cilicia in the persecutions of Maximus. They died in 309 AD in Cilicia, Asia Minor (in modern Turkey).

These were arrested, tortured and martyred by order of the governor Firmilian.
