Biography

Blessed Rose-Chretien de Neuville, hitched when young. Became a widow. Carmelite nun at Compiegne, France, taking the name Julia Louise of Jesus, affirmed in 1777. She sang in their choir. One of the Carmelite Martyrs of Compiegne, murdered in the counter Christian abuses of the French Revolution. Guillotined on July 17, 1794, at the Place du Trône Renversé (present day Place de la Nation) in Paris, France. Before their execution they stooped and recited the “Veni Creator”, as at a calling, after which they all restored so anyone might hear their baptismal and religious promises. Among eleven Discalced Carmelite nuns, three lay sisters and two laywomen hirelings who were martyred together in the French Revolution. They were the most punctual saints of the French Revolution that have been perceived.
