Blessed Titus Brandsma Biography

Blessed Titus Brandsma, a pious youth from a religious family; Three of his four sisters were now and one became a Franciscan. Nicknamed Shorty. Good student who felt an early vocation to the priesthood. From the age of eleven to seventeenth entered a seminary for Franciscans. Joined the Carmelites in Boxmeer, Netherlands, took the name Titus and made his first vows in 1899.

Doctorate in philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in 1909 at the age of 28 years. Taught at the Carmelite Seminary in Oss, the Netherlands.
