Biography
Bl. Alvarez of Cordova joined the Dominicans in Sapin in 1368 where he was known for being a travelling preacher in Italy and Andalusia. He was the personal confessor, preacher and political advisor of Queen Catherine and also took charge of the education of young King John II.
Alvarez then founded the Ladder of Heaven, a Dominican house made strictly for observance in the mountains around Cordova which later became a very known centre for learning. He spent his days there preaching, teaching and collecting alms from the streets. later in the night, he spent his time in prayer.
