Blessed’s Biography

Blessed Gjertrud was born in Voorburch in the Netherlands. She began her life as a serving girl in Delft. After she was wrecked by her liebhaber, she entered the city’s garden courtyard. In her life, she quickly grew on the path of perfection. She was nicknamed because she repeatedly repeated the anthem “Het daghet in den Oosten” (“The Day of the East”). She is one of many mystics who were stigmatized with Christ’s wound marks. Memorial day January 6th.

Death

She died on January 6, 1358, in Delft, Netherlands of natural causes and buried in the church of Saint Hippolytus in Delft.
