Blessed’s Biography
Blessed John Finch was born to a Yeoman farmer who was a wealthy owner of Eccleston. His family strongly believed in the Catholic faith and members were a very close family. John Finch was a married layman.
He was ambushed and arrested On Christmas 1581. Bl. John Finch was kept in the house of the Earl of Derby and tortured. Money was offered him to give the location of others covert Catholics. rumors were spread that John Finch had turned in Father George himself. He continued with his missionary at prison by preaching to his fellow mates. He was martyred in Lancaster together with James Bell.
