Blessed Joseph Allamano Biography
Bl. Joseph Allamano was a fourth born in a family of five children being the nephew to Saint John Cafasso. His father passed when he was of age 3, He joined the Salesian Oratory in Valdocco, Italy. Saint John Bosco was one of his spiritual directors.
Joseph entered the diocesan seminary of Turin, Italy. He later became a spiritual director of the Turin seminary after his ordination on September 20, 1873.
Later on 2 October 1880, he was appointed the rector of the Consolata Shrine where he remodeled it and made it a source of spiritual nourishment throughout the diocese. He founded the Consolata Missionary Brothers and priests on 29 January 1901 where the first missionary reached Kenya in 1902.
