Saint’s Biography
Saint Hegesippus of Jerusalem was a Jew from Jerusalem who converted to Christianity. He lived in Rome for twenty years researching the early Church. Saint Hegesippus returned to Jerusalem in 177 after visiting most of the important Christian churches. Hegesippus is known as the father of Church history for his five books on Church history from Christ’s death to Pope Eleuterus pontificate, especially about the Church in Jerusalem.

He died about 180, probably in Jerusalem, some clam he died in Rome. Saint Jerome testifies to his humble and apostolic spirit, “as he expressed through the simplicity of his writings.
