Saint Luke the Younger Biography
Saint Luke the Younger was the third born in a family of seven. His parents Stephen and Euphrosyne had a small farm. They were forced to leave for Thessaly ahead of Saracen raids on their home island. In his youth, Luke worked in the fields looking after sheep.
After his father died, he followed his call to religious life giving away his property to the poor. He then settled as a monk in the area of Hungary and Bulgaria where he was mistaken for a runaway slave and got imprisoned for a while.
When he was released, he found that his family had no concern for him. He joined a monastery in Athens, Greece but the seniors had a vision of his mother calling for help and had to send him home.
Later on, his mother accepted his calling and he became a hermit on Mount Joannitsa near Corinth, Greece. He healed so many people through his prayers.
