Today’s Morning Prayer

Today’s Bible Quote of the Day Reflections

Today, Jesus is teaching us about how prepared we should be for the judgement day. He tells us that that no one knows the day or the hour when this will be.

The most important thing we should do is to be always prepared in our hearts so that we are not caught flat-footed when that hour reckons.

The preparation that Jesus is recommending is that we start storing our treasures in Heaven instead of here on earth. One of the ways that Jesus recommends that we do is selling our earthly belongings and use that money to give alms. Jesus tells us to do this because we should use our earthly wealth to help those in need and by doing this, we will be transfering our treasures from this world to the Kingdom of God. This is where we would like our hearts to be, so lets take our treasures there.

These pseudo-safe havens on earth like the banks, land, real estate, government bonds and bills are places where you can easily lose the value of your treasure or even lose the whole treasure altogether. Thieves can steal, bonds or bills can be depleted or devalued and natural disasters can destroy your real estate. Jesus advises us to forget those and opt to remove that wealth from those havens then use that money to do God’s will.

Lets always do God’s work so that at any time that Jesus comes again, He will meet us already prepared. Lets make peace with our brothers and sisters, lets visit the sick and those in prison, lets give tithe and alms, lets obey all the commandments of God especially the greatest one of love.

Those in Church leadership positions are cautioned not to malhandle those that they serve for whoever misleads or misguides the flock of the Lord will be punished severely and be assigned a place with the unfaithful.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, we want to put our treasures in heaven where we also want our hearts to be. Help us to use our earthly wealth to do Your work so that we may always be prepared for Your second coming. Amen.
