Today’s Bible Verse of the Day Reflections
It is mind-boggling to imagine that Jesus can pray. Because we know that Jesus is God, we wouldn’t expect that He would pray for anything because He owns everything.
But indeed Jesus prayed. So what does Jesus want to teach the apostles and us today by praying all night? Here are a few lessons we learned from His very important action.
Lesson no. 1: Prayer to God is one form of Knowing, Loving, Praising and Glorifying God. This is the reason why God created us. Jesus teaches us to constantly pray to God so that God’s name is glorified.
Lesson No. 2: Prayer is the act of deep communion with God. By praying, Jesus was in deep communion and constant communication with God the Father and The Holy Spirit. Jesus wants us to learn that through prayer we will have a perfect unity with the Holy Trinity.
Lesson No. 3: The following day, Jesus chose his twelve apostles who would be the ones to continue the spread of His Good News to the world.
This was a very big decision to make. Jesus did not need to pray over that but he did that to teach us that before we make a big decision, we need to have deep communion with the Holy Trinity.
We know very well that we need to pray in order to know and fulfill the will of the Heavenly Father. This is because every day and every moment of the day, we do not walk in perfect harmony with God.
Lesson No. 4: Jesus teaches us that God wants much more from our quiet time than we are now giving Him. God is calling you today, from the example of Jesus, to spend much more of your time every day of your life in prayer.
Therefore, let us today commit to praying every time we are about to make big decisions in our lives. Let us also dedicate more time to God so that our communion with God will get better day by day. Anytime you have some adequate time to rest, devote a good portion of that time to God.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to always pray whenever I want to make a big decision. Let me follow Your example of praying and always seeking the presence of the Father in my life. Help me to have deep communion with You, God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus, I love you. Amen.
