Saint Aigulf Biography
St. Aigulf was a Benedictine monk in Fleury, France. He led a group of monks to retrieve the relics of Saint Bernard from Lombards. Aigulf was the leader of the Monastery of Lerins, France in 670. The house was in a mess and really needed reforms. Many of the brothers supported him but some also resisted.
Following a riot, he was arrested together with other four and taken to the island of Capri, Italy where they were blinded, tortured and killed.
