St. Anne Line Biography
St. Anne Line was born of a wealthy Calvinist. However, when she and her brother converted to Catholicism, they were disowned and disinherited. She got married to a convert, Roger Line who was soon arrested for attending mass then exiled to Belgium and died later in 1594. Ann was put in charge of a house Father John Gerard has set to set priest in refuge in London.
Father Gerard was sent to the tower of London and then escaped in 1597. However, the authorities suspected Ann of hiding him and she moved him to another house which was a meeting point for Catholics. While on Candlemas in 1601, Priest catchers broke in and Father Francis page undressed quickly and mingled with the others. However, the altar was enough evidence to arrest Anne. She was tried, Convicted and killed for housing priests.
