Saint’s Biography
St. Arcangelo Tadini was born on October 12, 1846, in Italy. His parents were Pietro Tadini and Antonia Gadola and the family belonged to the nobility and descended from the Tadini family in Crema.
His father had first been married to Julia Gadola, but she died at 28 after giving birth to seven children. Nine years later he married the first wife’s sister Antonia, and with her, he had four children, of whom Arcangelo was the youngest.
Arcangelo had always been sick and his parents were afraid that he would die. But he recovered and got his first education in Verolanuova.
In 1855-56 he moved to the Episcopal High School in Lovere, where his siblings also attended. Three of his brothers started the seminary after completing high school in Lovere.
Entered the seminary in Brescia, Italy at age 18 and in 1870 ordained as a priest. Curate in the mountain village of Lodrino from 1871 to 1873.
Curate at the Shrine of Santa Maria della Noce near Brescia. Curate at Botticino Sera in 1885; parish priest there in 1887, a post he held for the rest of his life.
