St Athanasius of Cilicia witness the torture of Zosimus of Cilicia during Emperor Diocletian (284-305). St. Athanasius converted after seeing the courage and faith of Zosimus.
He was tortured and survived and became a hermit for the rest of his life in 303. His memorial day is January 3, and because of his suffering, he is often called a martyr.
