Saint Bartholomea Capitanio Biography
Saint Bartholomea Capitanio, the daughter of an alcoholic corn factor. Wanted to become a well, but her family resisted this decision, and so she made a private vow of eternal chastity and began to teach and work as a lay woman youth. Full correspondent, often writes about spirituality; Many letters were later collected and published.
In 1832 she founded the Sisters of Charity with Saint Vincentia Gerosa. Based on the Rule of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, she dedicated herself to teaching boys and caring for the impoverished. The parish received papal approval in 1840 and today has over 500 parishes.
