Blessed’s Biography
From 1171 to 1194 Blessed Benincasa of Cava was a Benedictine monk and abbot of La Cava, Salerno, Italy. Benincasa helped set up a new monastery in Monreale, Sicily, and sent a hundred monks as the staff. He died on January 10, 1194, of natural causes and was buried in the crypt of La Cava Abbey. His relics were placed in the Chapel of the Fathers at the monastery on October 20, 1675.
