Saint’s Biography
Saint Caedwalla of Wessex was the Son of Coenberht and the King of Wessex in the UK. He relinquished his throne in 688 but later returned to reclaim the throne. The King of Wessex was victories in many battles.
Saint Caedwalla was converted to Christianity in 688 by Saint Wilfrid after being injured in the fight of the Isle of Wight. He escaped and went to Rome where he got baptized on April 10, 689 by Pope Saint Sergius I. Saint Caedwalla changed his name to Peter. He died ten days later, still wearing his white baptism coat. Saint Bede wrote him in his History of the English Church.
Death
He died on April 20689 at Rome, Italy and interred in a crypt at Saint Peter’s Basilic.
