Saint’s Biography

Saint Caesarea of Otranto was born in the 14th century. She was the daughter of Louis and Lucrezia. After the death of her mother, Caesarea left home to escape the incestuous interests of her father.

She dedicated herself to God and withdrew from the world to live as an anchoress in a cave near Otranto, Italy, where she devoted herself to prayer.

She died in the 14th century of natural causes. Due to her reputation for holiness, a church was soon built at the cave of Caesareo.
