Saint’s Biography
Saint Ethelred of Bardney was born to a royal family (prince) and he was the son of King Penda of Mercia in England. In 674 Ethelred became king of Mercia and abdicated in 704 to become a monk at Bardney Abbey where he later became abbot. He died in 716 at the at Bardney, England of natural causes.
