Saint’s Biography

Saint Felix of Nantes was born around 515 AD in the Aquitaine region of modern France. He came from a noble family and received a good education. Felix was married in 550 and when his wife went to the monastery, he accepted the election and became a bishop. Felix stayed in that sit for 33 years and became one of the city’s greatest bishops. His mission was primarily pastoral by resuming the evangelization of the surrounding countryside, where paganism still lived.

Felix formed groups of young missionaries to evangelize the area, and the regulations he set for the diocese show that he was determined to instill a sense of discipline. People knew him for his peacemaker between warring leaders in his region.

Death

Felix died on January 6, 584 of natural causes.
