St Fidolus of Aumont, also known as Phal, Fal, Fidolo or Fidouls was an abbot of Aumont Abbey near Troyes, France. He was born in the 5th century AD in Auvergne, France and died in 540 AD in the Aumont Abbey. We celebrate his feast day on May 16 every year in the Catholic Church.

Saint’s Biography

Saint Fidolus of Aumont was the son of an official in Auvergne in France. He was abducted and sold into slavery and rescued by Abbot Aventinus from the Abbey of Aumont, near Troyes in France.

Fidolus himself became a monk and later abbot of Aumont. In memory of his holiness, he was called Saint-Phal. He died in 540 AD.
