Saint’s Biography
Saint Galdinus of Milan was born in Mila in 1100 Italy. Galdino in 1160 was archdeacon of the cathedral and worked with the archbishop Oberto at the camp of the Milanese. Galdino witnessed the destruction of the city ordered by the emperor Federico I Barbarossa in 1162.
Election held in 1159 saw him and the archbishop chosen as pro-German, antipope, Ottaviano de Monticelli with the name of Victor VI.
In 1165 Galdino was appointed cardinal and succeeded Oberto on the chair of Ambrogio. But the city was in ruins. In 1167 the reconstruction begins. He restored the fundamental structures for old and new structures.
Galdino told the administrators and had the stone engraved: “You are here only to serve the poor”. Restore the cathedral, helped by Milanese women who donate the few jewels saved from the looting of Barbarossa.

He died in 1100 on the pulpit of the church of Santa Tecla, after a sermon Italy.
