Saint Galganus Life History
Saint Galganus was also known as Galgano Guidotti. Galgano had a common existence in his childhood, yet changed over and turned into a recluse on Monte Siepe in Tuscany, Italy.
A congregation based on the site of his seclusion in 1196 was gone over to the Cistercians in 1201, and they guaranteed Galgano as one of their own.
Legend says his transformation was brought about by a visit from the Archangel Michael. After the vision, he said surrendering his previous way of life would be as simple as cutting rocks with a sword.
To underline this mocking comment, he drew his weapon and push at a stone, anticipating that the sharp edge should snap; the sword covered into the stone up as far as possible, and Galganus transformed him.
