Biography
Saint Goar of Aquitaine, Cleric. In 519, to serve God secretly, he moved to the territory around Trier, Germany, and turned into a recluse in a cell at Oberwesel on the Rhein. Understood for sacredness, predictios, and marvels. Declined the archbishopric of Trier. Charlemagne manufactured a stately church over Goar’s withdrawal, around which the town of Saint Guvet developed on the left bank of the Rhine among Wesel and Boppard.
