Saint’s Biography
saint Hallvard of Oslo was born in 1020 AD in Norway as the son of the Norwegian royal family. When he wanted to cross the Drammenfjord by boat in 1043, a woman came to him and asked him for help.
She claimed she was falsely accused of theft and feared for her life. Hallvard took her aboard, but the mob reached her before he could pull away.
They asked him to give her up, but he refused and said the woman swore she was innocent. One of them shot both Hallvard and the woman with a bow.
They threw the corpse of Hallvard at sea. Later, the body floated and was enshrined at Christ Church, Oslo, Norway. Hallvard was venerated as a martyr because he died defending an innocent soul.
