Biography
St. John the Saxon was a monk in France who was invited by King Alfred of England to restore faith to the English abbeys devastated by Dames. He later became the abbot of Athelingay and was murdered in a church at night by two monks said to have been French monks. He is considered a martyr since his death was because of working for faith.
