Biography
Saint Joseph of Palestine, a Jewish layman affiliated with the Biblical School of Tiberius and serving as assistant to the famous Rabbi Hillel. A secret Christian, Hillel was baptized on his deathbed and entrusted his sacred books to Joseph. As head of the synagogue in Tarsus, his congregation Joseph read the Gospels; They beat him and him in Cydnus. He then converted publicly.
Friend and counselor of Emperor Constantine the Great, who summoned him to the high position of coming. Built churches in Galilee, Tiberias, Nazareth, Capernaum, Bethsan and Diocese and evangelized throughout the Holy Land. Fought against Arianism and moved to Skytholopolis, where he hid priests from persecution. Patron saint of Saint Eusebius of Vercielli and Saint Epiphanius; Epiphanius wrote Joseph’s biography.
His guardianship of scriptures and holy men led to his association with guardians in general.
