Biography
Saint Julius of Caerleon was martyred together with Saint Aaron around the third century. They were Romano-British Christians who along with Saint Alban are the only named Christian martyrs from Roman Britain.
Many historians report the martyrdom in Caerleon. But, other suggestions have placed it in Chester or Leicester. The feast day was originally celebrated on July 1. However, now it is observed together with Alban on 20 June by the Roman Catholic and Anglican Churches.
The Roman list of martyrs lists St.Julius under 22 June. However, since it is also the feast day of Saints John Fisher and Thomas, the current Roman Catholic liturgical calendar for Wales celebrates him together with St. Alban.
