Saint Lucian Beauvias’ Life History

Lucian, also named Lucius(after his father), was said to have been born from a normal family of Rome. He grew up to be passionate with the word of God and preached in the cities of Italy and was later ordained bishop by Pope Clement, who sent him to Gaul alongside companions, of them being, Rieul of Reims, Saint Denis and Saint Quentin.

He preached in Pavia, where he was imprisoned, though was freed by the Christians there as he had converted many of them in that area. He proceeded to other places, including; Arles and Lutetia as he headed to Beauvais where he grew a great reputation for his mortification, great penance and his preaching against the Roman gods.

He later retired to a nearby hill to live as a hermit. He was believed to have been martyred alongside to of his companions, Julian and Maximian by means of decapitation on the hill of Mont Mille in the year 290 AD.
