Saint Ibar of Meath

St Ibar of Meath, also known as Iberius, Ibhar, or Ivor, was a bishop of Begerin, Wexford, Ireland born in the 5th century in Ulster, Ireland.

He was the uncle and teacher of St Abban and a disciple of St Patrick. He was a missionary in south Ireland with St Kiaran, St Ailbe, St Declan and others.

He preached in Leinster and Meath and about 480 AD, he settled at Begerin where he built an oratory and cell where his holiness attracted many would-be students.

He founded Beggery Monstary on the island of Beg-Eire, and served as its abbot. Later on, he became the bishop of Begerin, Wexford, Ireland and became the spiritual director of St Brigid’s convent at Kildare, Ireland.

He died in 500 AD and is the patron saint of Begerin, Ireland.

Blessed Giles of Assisi

Blessed Giles of Assisi was also known as Aegidius.

He was a friend and third follower of St Francis of Assisi born in 1190 in Assisi, Italy. He was sent as a missionary to Muslims in Tunis with no success.

When he returned to Italy, he lived in various places where he was a sought after spiritual advisor. His “Sayings” have been printed in many editions.

He was assigned later to the hermitage of Fabriano where he led a life of quiet contemplation. He died on April 23 1262 at Perugia, Italy.

Saint Marolus of Milan

St Marolus of Milan was born in Mesopotamia but grew up in Syria.

He moved to Rome, Italy and became a good friend of Pope Innocent I. He became the Bishop of Milan, Italy in 408 AD. He worked with refugees and victims of a Visigoth invasion of his diocese.

He died April 23 423 AD and was buried in the Church of Saint Nazarius and Celsus in Milan, Italy.

Saint Fortunatus of Vienne

St. Fortunatus, a deacon, was commissioned by St. Irenaeus of Lyons to spread the Gospel in the vicinity of Vienne, France.

He was martyred in 212 AD at Valence, France, after enduring a series of tortures that included flogging, crushing of his legs, binding to moving wheels, suffocation with smoke while stretched on the rack, and ultimately being impaled with a sword.

Saint Achilleus of Vienne

St. Achilleus of Vienne, who was a deacon, received a commission from St. Irenaeus of Lyons to evangelize in Vienne, France.

However, he was subjected to severe torture and died as a martyr. His sufferings included being scourged, having his legs crushed, being bound to wheels in motion, stifled with smoke while stretched on the rack, and ultimately pierced with a sword in Valence, France, in 212 AD.

Saint Felix of Vienne

St. Felix of Vienne, who was a priest, was tasked by St. Irenaeus of Lyons to evangelize the area surrounding Vienne, France.

He died a martyr’s death in 212 AD at Valence, France, after undergoing various tortures such as scourging, having his legs crushed, being bound to wheels in motion, being stretched on the rack and stifled with smoke, and finally being run through with a sword.

Saint George of San Giorio

Saint George of San Giorio, also referred to as Georg, Giorgio, Giorio or Jorio, was a martyr who is often associated with the Theban Legion by later writers, despite being in a different location. He died in the year 286 AD in San Giorio, Italy.

Blessed Giles of Saumur

Blessed Giles of Saumur, who served as the chaplain to King Saint Louis IX, joined him on the Crusade. He became the bishop of Damietta, Egypt in 1243 and then an Archbishop of Tyre, Lebanon in 1245.

He died in 1266 of natural causes in Dinant, Belgium.

Blessed Gerard of Orchimont

Blessed Gerard of Orchimont served as a Benedictine monk and abbot in Florennes, Belgium for ten years from 1126 to 1136. He died due to natural causes in 1138.
