Blessed Gilbert of Valenciennes was a Benedictine monk at Saint-Crespin-en-Chaie, Soissons, France.

He became an abbot at the monastery of Saint John the Baptist Abbey at Valenciennes, France.

He was persecuted by the Count of Hainault in modern Belgium but died of natural causes in 1185 AD.
