Saint Phosterios Life History

St Phosterios climbed a high rock according to the historically worthless legend and lived there praying, fasting and watching. An angel provided him with his daily bread; when he had visitors, so many breads were brought that everyone got bread.

Phosterios could do wonders and heal the sick through his prayer. After more and more companions had joined him, he built a monastery, which he headed as an abbot. At a synod held to fight heretics, his powerful words convinced him; as a result, many heretics were converted.
