St Protasius Chong Kuk-bo, also known as Jeong Guk-Bo, Peurotasio, or Protasio Chong Kuk-bo, was a Christian married layman born in 1799 AD in Songdo, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea and died as a martyr on May 20 1839 in Seoul Prison, South Korea for refusing to denounce his faith. We celebrate his feast day on May 20 every year in the Catholic Church.

Saint Protasius Chong Kuk-bo was a married layman in the apostolic vicariate of Korea.
Once he gave up Christianity but regained his faith, was imprisoned, tortured and finally executed for refusing to give it up.
